MIRI: The Karma Kagyu Dharma Society (KKDS), Miri continues with its mission to help the needy in Tudan by providing them with basic necessities.

Recently, a group of KKDS committee members visited Phase 6 in Tudan near here to distribute foodstuff, including rice.

According to a spokesman, Clement Goh, they were given to the most deserving cases.

“The houses are picked at random by their physical sight that demands our attention.

“This way, we hope the items would get to the really needy ones,” he said.

The society is a well-known active Buddhist centre in Miri, established several years ago.

Apart from religious activities, the society also carries out its humanitarian mission to look into the well-being of the needy in society.

“We strive to help in the little way we can by donating basic needs to help alleviate their problems,” Goh said.

Through its charity work, the society hopes to build rapport with the public.

Goh hoped that other organisations would follow suit to help the poor in Miri.
