PR to go it alone without state-based parties in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: Pakatan Rakyat will face Barisan Nasional (BN) on its own without the support from state-based parties in the coming general election in Sabah.

Parti Keadilan Rakyat de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Pakatan’s focus is to solidify its agendas in Sabah together with allies Pertubuhan Pakatan Perubahan Sabah (PPPS) and Angkatan Perubahan Sabah (APS).

“Our meeting today (yesterday) is to solidify our stand and agendas in Sabah, all three member parties and our alliances, APS and PPPS.

There are no other parties, many of their statements conflicted with our stand in Pakatan so we will continue with our agendas for changes,” he told reporters during a meeting with Sabah Pakatan leadership here yesterday.

Despite unsuccessful attempts to forge agreeable collaboration with state-based parties, Anwar said the national opposition pact will hold onto its pledge not to attack other opposition parties but focus instead on pushing BN out of power.

“Some of the state-based opposition pronouncements sounded like (they are) BN spokespersons (but) we don’t attack the opposition.

“Our focus is (to) defeat Umno and BN, (we are) very clear on our policy,” he stressed.

He also informed that seat allocation among Pakatan members in Sabah was almost settled with only a few remaining seats still being discussed and should be resolved in one or two days.
