KUCHING: Unconfirmed reports have been circulating in the past 24 hours that English football star David Beckham may sign on to play for Sarawak in the Premier League.
The player transfer period for teams in the national league is currently open.
The rumours are all the more tantalizing because Beckham was in China last month and he spoke about hoping to end his playing career in Asia.
A spokesman of Football Association of Sarawak would only say “No comment” to enquiries made last night.
The 37 year old media superstar is currently on a short-term playing contract with French club Paris St Germain.
He played in his club’s 1-0 win over Montpellier two nights ago.
Contacted via email, Paris St Germain officials would only say that Beckham is travelling outside Europe at the moment.
