MIRI: Democratic Action Party (DAP) is looking forward to pit its challenger in Senadin, its branch chairlady Lim Su Kien against incumbent Datuk Seri Peter Chin or his replacement in the 13th General Election (GE13).

“I take this opportunity to challenge the incumbent and Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) president Datuk Seri Peter Chin to stand against our candidate Lim Su Kien in the coming election,” said DAP Youth chief Teo Kok Seong as the last speaker in Taman Tunku here last Sunday.

Teo hoped to see a direct fight between Lim and Chin in what he considered another David versus Goliath battle, in reference to the previous state election where Piasau assemblyman Alan Ling Sie Kiong beat former deputy chief minister and SUPP president, Dr George Chan.

“This GE13, Pakatan Rakyat wants to add two more seats – Miri and Sibuti – to emulate the twin victories in Pujut and Piasau in the last state election,” declared Teo who claimed inspiration from unexpected support and positive response from voters.

Other speakers included DAP Legal Bureau director Chang Choon Yee, PAS Sarawak Youth chief Mohd Arifiriazul, Lim, Ling, Meradong assemblywoman Ting Tze Fui, and PAS Miri chief Jofri Jaraiee.

The two-night DAP Ubah ceramah drew about 1,000 people in Boulevard Commercial Centre, and 500 people in Taman Tunku Commercial Centre.
