LAHAD DATU: A ‘Datuk Seri’ wanted by police in connection with Ops Daulat was detained in a flat in Tanjung Aru, Kota Kinabalu Wednesday night.

The man was detained at about 10.30pm, several hours after news that he was sought by police in connection with Ops Daulat was carried by the media.

Sabah deputy police commissioner Datuk Tan Kok Liang said the man believed to have links with the ‘Sulu sultanate’ was detained after a tip-off from the public.

“We also detained a 55 -year-old woman, believed to be his wife, and a 30-year-old man nearby,” he told a press conference at Operation Daulat base in Felda Sahabat 16 yesterday.

Several important documents were seized from the three suspects currently held under the Security Offences Act (Special Measures) 2012 (Sosma).

A mobile police station will operate today in Kampung Tanjung Batu, Tanjung Labian, Lok Buani, Lok Sambuang, Tanagian and Sungai Bilis to allow the villagers to report loss of property due to the intrusion by Sulu terorists. — Bernama
