KOTA KINABALU: Despite the pouring rain, as many as 100 participants turned up to clean up Tanjung Lipat Beach, from 7.30am to noon, yesterday.

The Kasi Beach Clean-Up Project, organised by Kasi (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd,  managed to fill 250 bags of trash.

The event was part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as well as a family day for the staff of the company.

Participants of the event included members of Sabah Warriors’ Rugby Club comprising  young working adults as well as students from secondary schools like St Michael’s Secondary School and Maktab Sabah.

Kasi (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd managing director Walter J. Nair told the participants that they were the ones who would make a difference in making sure that the environment stayed clean. He also encouraged the participants to strive for excellence, be it in sports or the outlook in life.

After a hard day’s work, the participants gathered around the beach to play rugby before an award presentation to outstanding members of the Sabah Warriors’ Rugby Club. Lunch was served thereafter.
