KUALA LUMPUR: Thieves broke into a petol kiosk in Persiaran Kewajipan, Subang Jaya, early yesterday and escaped with RM224,570 from an automated teller machine (ATM).

Subang Jaya police chief ACP Yahya Ramli said the theft was discovered by petrol kiosk employee Sapiah Abidin, 42, who arrived for work at 5am and noticed that the glass door was forced open.

He believed that two men entered the petrol kiosk and sprayed two closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras with red paint.

“CCTV camera footage at 3am showed two suspects in black and white long sleeve shirts, gloves, ski masks and blue helmets with visor.

“They rushed into the CCTV recording room and cut the telephone and electricity wires.”

“The ATM was forced open using oxy acetylene gas,” he said when contacted.

Yahya said the thieves escaped with four boxes full of money. The ATM was stocked with RM395,000 on Wednesday.

They also stole 40 boxes of Dunhill cigarettes. — Bernama
