Politeknik Kota Kinabalu records best performance for 2012

KOTA KINABALU: Politeknik Kota Kinabalu recorded its best performance with a 98 percentage passes for its June 2012 intake students and 93 percentage passes for its December 2011 intake students.

Director Wan Mohamad Nasir Wan Abdul Rahman said this at the second session of Politeknik Kota Kinabalu’s 17th Convocation held at its campus yesterday.

“The contributing factors for this success are the cooperation of all staff, competent and dedicated lecturers as well as the comprehensive and fully equipped infrastructure which provides students with an enjoyable and conducive learning environment.

“We were also committed to produce more excellent graduates and staff in several fields, including co-curriculum to foster healthy competition,” he said.

Wan Mohamad also disclosed that other than the polytechnic’s academic achievements, its students’ presence was also seen in sporting events, community activities and co-curriculum when they won several competitions at the Borneo, Higher Learning Ministry and national levels.

He added that Politeknik Kota Kinabalu has won four excellence awards under the Malaysia Polytechnic Excellence Awards for Sabah/Sarawak Zone, won a Gold Award under the Polytechnic Innovation Award for Academic Category and also won an Excellent Product Award at the Second Innovation Conference and Exhibition.

Lecturers of Politeknik Kota Kinabalu also won The Best Paper and The Best Presenter at the Annual South East Asia International Seminar, Jakarta State Polytechnic.

A total of 1,980 graduates of Politeknik Kota Kinabalu received their certificates and diplomas in several courses, including tourism and hospitality, civil engineering, mechanical and commerce at the 17th Convocation, which ended yesterday.

Head of State Tun Haji Juhar Mahiruddin graced the first day convocation on Saturday, while his consort, Toh Puan Norlidah RM Jasni continued with the second day convocation yesterday.

As of December last year, Politeknik Kota Kinabalu has produced a total of 14,920 graduates.
