SHAH ALAM: All M-League matches are expected to suspended during the 13th General Election period to ensure a smooth election process.

Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) vice president Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin said the association would wait for an announcement from the Election Commission (EC) on Wednesday, before deciding the duration of suspension.

“We will suspend the M-League for a specified duration to allow all those involved in the 13th General Election (GE13) process to carry out their duties and responsibilities as voters.

“In fact players and officials are also involved in the voting process. The suspended matches will be rescheduled on a later date,” he told reporters when met, here, yesterday.

Hamidin who is also the FAM local competition committee chairman reminded fans and supporters to avoid using the stadium as a venue for politics by bringing flags of political parties.

“No political part flags are allowed into the stadiums during matches. This is not a new directive but has been in practice for a long time,” he said.

Meanwhile, Hamidin urged state and club teams playing in the M-League to use the 14 days ‘window’ period for the registration of new players wisely by signing quality players, since there would be no extension of the period.

The 14-day window period which starts today ends on April 22.— Bernama
