KUCHING: Selangor PKNS and former Sarawak striker Zamri Morshidi has expressed his desire to return to Sarawak after only halfway through the season.

Speaking to The Borneo Post yesterday, Sarawak head coach Robert Alberts have confirmed that the player has verbally expressed his desire to return to Stadium Negeri.

“He could play for Sarawak in the next match but he has yet to sign on any agreement. It would be nice to see Zamri return,” he said.

A reliable source reported a Sarawak player was seen congratulating Zamri on his impending return to the team.

The striker made only seven appearance and scored twice for Selangor PKNS so far this season.

Zamri was best remembered for his performance in 2011 season when his partnership with Bobby Gonzales in the Premier League helped Sarawak secure promotion to the Super League.

He was also the team captain before being replaced by Hairol Mokhtar the following season.

Things however did not turn out well for Zamri during Sarawak’s stint in the Super League.

He struggled to adapt to the
Super League and his strike partner Bobby returned to Sabah.

Even with experienced import strikers like Vedran Muratovic, Kalle Sonne and Joel Epalle, he only managed to score two goals in the whole of the 2012 season.

At the end of last season, he was sold to Super League outfit Selangor PKNS for an undisclosed fee.

Now with Bobby back again to play for Sarawak, it might be the right time for him to return and help Sarawak push for a Super League promotion.
