BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The month-long overseas absentee voting (OAV) for the Philippines’ mid-term national election starts today in the Philippine Embassy in the Diplomatic Enclave, Bandar Seri Begawan, Borneo Bulletin reported.

The voting for 12 Philippine senators and one party list in Brunei will be held from Saturday, April 13 to Monday, May 13, 2013, from 8am to 12 noon and 1pm to 5pm.

The List of Candidates for the 2013 Elections issued by the Philippine Commission on Elections (Comelec) shows 33 candidates for senators and 123 candidates for part list, which can be viewed through the Comelec’s website www.comelec.gov.ph, or at the Philippine Embassy.

“To avoid inconvenience for themselves and other voters, Filipinos in Brunei are encouraged to choose from among the names in the enclosed list before they cast their votes,” the Philippine Embassy said.

“I enjoin all OAV-registered voters in Brunei to exercise their right of suffrage. We will have a return Cebu Pacific air ticket to Manila to be given to an absentee voter who will cast a ballot at the Philippine Embassy during the April 13 to May 13, 2013 voting period for the Philippine national election,” said Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam, Nestor Z Ochoa.

Overseas absentee voters based in Brunei may check with the Philippine Embassy whether or not their name is in the Certified List of Voters for Brunei Darussalam, the Philippine Embassy said.

For inquiries, voters may call the Philippine Embassy’s telephone numbers at 2241465 or 2241466 extension 121 from Monday to Friday (except public holidays) during office hours or email [email protected] or [email protected].
