Plaza Merdeka to host Miss Fitness World Harvest Festival

KUCHING: Plaza Merdeka Shopping Mall will play host to the finals of Miss Fitness World Harvest Festival, a subsidiary title of the Miss World Harvest Festival, on April 27.

It will be held at 8pm at the plaza’s lower ground floor. It is the first time Plaza Merdeka is hosting the event jointly held with Sarawak Cultural Village.

Apart from that, Nestle has signed up to be one of the main sponsors of Miss Fitness World Harvest Festival 2013, as part of the objective to create awareness of good health.

“Nestle is sponsoring its Nestle Fitnesse Breakfast Cereal to promote a healthy diet to the participants. This breakfast cereal is a product that helps to lose weight the right way and to help kick-start a healthier lifestyle,” said Nestle Products Sampling and Event manager Sarawak Tony Merril Ripat at the sponsorship handover yesterday.

There are three types of healthy breakfast cereals by Nestle Fitnesse to cater to different preferences, Nestle Fitnesse & Fruit, Nestle Fitnesse Honey
& Almonds and Nestle Fitnesse The Low Fat Whole Grain
Cereal.

He added that research showed that women who eat more whole grains tend to weigh less and are less likely to gain weight over time.

Meanwhile, renowned modern fitness centre in Kuching, Level Up Fitness will also provide all the finalists with six hours of exercise classes before the competition and prizes for the winner of the subsidiary title.

Also in the mix is AD Jeans, one of the tenants in Plaza Merdeka, which will provide the finalists with sports attire during the competition.

The finalists are Claudia Panti, 20, Shafreezan Sazali, 19, Brenda Sue, 23, Rosalind Sajah, 25, Cammielye Oliver, 25, Nur Halina Muhamed, 23, Nightangle David, 25, Esther Unyana 23, Fillence Macaitlan, 23, Efazira Sabri, 18, Shaley Merie Wallen, 18, Noraini Sabu, 23, Cornellia Johnek, 22, Fiolla Redup, 21, Syafiqah Mohd Ahmadi, 20, and Nurfetin Afiqah Ariffin, 23.

The annual beauty pageant organised by the Sarawak Cultural Village (SCV) is one of the programmes for the World Harvest Festival 2013 with the support from the Ministry of Tourism Sarawak (MOT) and Ministry of Tourism Malaysia.

The festival this year will be held at the Sarawak Cultural Village from May 3 to 5 where other highlights include live staging of the The Fish Princess: A Highlander Love Story adapted from the Kelabit legend, international cultural concert from Mayuzumi Foundation for Traditional Folk Dance, Japan with interactive workshop on dance and music, the final Ironman World Harvest Festival competition and Sarawak Kitchen Food Festival.

Tickets for the festival are sold at RM60 while those bought before April 19 will cost RM30.
