KUCHING: Voters are reminded to go home and cast their vote on May 5.

This reminder came from state DAP elected representatives during a ‘ceramah’ (political talk) at Kuching City Mall, off Jalan Stephen Yong, on Saturday.

Batu Kawah assemblywoman Christina Chiew hoped those who are staying outside their registered constituencies would exercise their rights on polling day.

“Please past the message to your family members and friends and ask them to come home and vote.”

Padungan assemblyman Wong King Wei called on voters not to miss the chance to decide the future of the country.

“We should not be afraid to decide the future of our country. Even if there is a change in government things won’t go bad,” he said, adding that a two-party system is common in many countries.

Wong also explained the benefits of the two-party system to the crowd of hundreds, who started to gather in front of the stage after the rain stopped around 8pm.

As the stage was set up near to the main road, many road users stopped their vehicles along the main road and listened to the talk that lasted about three hours.

Other speakers included Bandar Kuching incumbent and Kota Sentosa assemblyman Chong Chieng Jen, Kidurong assemblyman Chiew Chiu Sing, Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong and DAP Stampin branch assistant secretary Julian Tan.
