TUMPAT: The opening of the one-way lane on the second Sultan Yahya Petra Bridge since last week proved that the Barisan Nasional (BN) government did not lie when it said it will fulfill its promises to the people of Kelantan.

In fact, Kelantan Umno Liaison Committee chairman Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said the opening of the lane had solved the congestion issues on the existing bridge, especially along the Langgar-Pasir Pekan route.

The bridge, which was built at a cost of RM184.4 million, is expected to be fully operational in June or July this year, he said at the launch gimmick for the opening of the bridge here yesteday.

“When ready, motorists will be able to enjoy six lanes offered on the new bridge as compared to two lanes on the existing bridge, hence solving the traffic congestion issues completely,” he said.

He also refuted the allegation that there was a serious crack on the bridge.

Mustapa also said that, by now, the people of Kelantan should be able to see that BN government was able to fulfil its promises, while the PAS-led state government could not even keep its promise to build a bridge linking Kampung China and Palekbang, Tumpat. — Bernama
