AFTERMATH: The condition of the lorry after the fire.
SIBU: Three men jumped out of a lorry and hid behind a tree when they saw smoke coming out from it at the Teng Chin Hua Road/Wawasan Road Roundabout at around 10.30am yesterday.
They were transporting metal from Ding Lik Kong Road to Kanowit when they smelt something burning.
They looked around to see if any car beside them had caught fire.
Noticing heavy smoke from the engine compartment of their lorry, they stopped the lorry by the roadside and bolted to a nearby tree for cover, fearing an explosion.
In a short while, the lorry caught fire, but was extinguished by firemen who arrived after being alerted.
