Entulu pre-empts any surprise by Sarawak Workers Party

SIBU: Datuk Joseph Entulu, the incumbent for Selangau, said he would not be caught off-guard by Sarawak Workers Party’s (SWP) delay in announcing its candidate for the constituency.

The PRS deputy president said such a game plan would not work on him as “nothing SWP does can surprise me”.

“Their unwillingness to name candidates is a sign of lack of confidence and rightly so. It will be foolhardy on their part if they believe they could catch me off guard through such strategy.

“I have long started my preparation and am well prepared for the coming 13th General Election (GE),” said Entulu, who is Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development.

He noted that with the upbeat mood on the ground, BN would have a resounding victory.

At the same time, he repeated his challenge for SWP prime mover Datuk Sng Chee Hua to fight him in Selangau.

“I welcome him to fight me there. I have been moving around and my machinery is in top gear now,” he said.

The BN-friendly SWP will fight PRS in all the six seats held by the latter; namely Sri Aman, Lubok Antu, Julau, Kanowit, Hulu Rajang and Selangau.

Thus far, it has announced its candidates for Julau, Hulu Rajang and Lubok Antu but remained tight lipped on its candidates for Selangau, Sri Aman and Kanowit.

In Julau, Meluan assemblyman Wong Judat is set to face off with incumbent Datuk Joseph Salang while in Hulu Rajang, Pelagus assemblyman George Lagong will go toe-to-toe with PRS’ Wilson Ugak.

In Lubok Antu, the tussle is between SWP president Larry Sng and PRS’s William Nyalau Badak.

A three or multi-cornered fight is inevitable in Selangau as PKR candidate Joshua Jabeng has indicated intention to join in the fray.

Claiming that rural folk would always look up to BN for more development, Entulu believed that they would not go for the opposition.

“They need more infrastructural development such as roads, basic amenities and so on,” he said.

In 2008 parliamentary election, Entulu won the seat unopposed.

Meanwhile, PRS is retaining all its incumbents except Hulu Rajang incumbent Datuk Billy Abit Joo, who has been dropped for Wilson Ugak Kumbong.
