BUKIT MERTAJAM: Barisan Nasional (BN) will bring new hope to the people of Permatang Pauh should they give BN candidates a chance to represent the area.

Based on BN’s confidence in winning over all three state seats and the parliamentary constituency, Dr Mazlan Ismail, who was named as BN candidate for the Permatang Pauh parliamentary constituency, said BN held to the ‘Servant Leadership’ principles which would bring wellbeing to the people.

The former Telekom Malaysia Bhd vice-president said it was time for BN to recapture Permatang Pauh after four elections, or almost 15 years of opposition rule.

“We are a source of new hope for Permatang Pauh. I hope each voter in Permatang Pauh gives us a chance this time to serve them well,” he said.

He said this at a news conference to introduce candidates for Permatang Pauh and the state constituencies of Seberang Jaya, Permatang Pasir and Penanti, here on Wednesday night.

Also present were Permatang Pauh Umno division chief Datuk Abdul Jalil Abdul Majid and candidates for the three state constituencies, Datuk Mohamad Nasir Abdullah (Seberang Jaya), Anuar Faisal Yahaya (Permatang Pasir) and Ibrahim Ahmad (Penanti). Mazlan said BN was confident they could win back the opposition stronghold as its residents had shown signs of support for BN candidates.

“This confidence is also based on the hard work of the Permatang Pauh BN machinery which has been preparing for the past two years,” said Mazlan, who will be contesting against Permatang Pauh incumbent, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. — Bernama
