23 women candidates in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: A total of 23 women candidates from Barisan Nasional (BN) and opposition are contesting in the 13th General Election in Sabah.

Twelve of them are for parliament and the rest for state seats.

Four women are contesting under BN, two under PKR, three under STAR, one each from SAPP and KITA and two Independent candidates for parliamentary seats while none from PAS and DAP .

Meanwhile, for State seats, four women are from BN, two from PAS and one each from PKR, DAP, STAR and SAPP.

One of the Independent woman candidates is Erveana who contesting in Tuaran. She is the daughter of Tuaran PKR chief Haji Ansari Abdullah who is not contesting in the general election.
