Bank manager’s threat on voting opposition an internal problem — Police

JOHOR BAHARU: Johor police have described the case of a bank manager threatening to sack employees who vote for Barisan Nasional in the general election on May 5 as an internal problem of the bank.

Johor police contingent headquarters spokesman ACP Abdul Aziz Ahmad said the case had been closed because there was no offence disclosed.

“I see this case more as an internal problem and will leave it to the bank to resolve it themselves,” he told a media conference on the running of the 13th general election here yesterday.

A Malay language daily yesterday reported that a bank manager in Taman Nusa Bistari, Skudai, near here was said to have threatened his Malay employees to vote the opposition party or risk being dismissed.

The threat was said to have beeen made during a meeting on April 18. — Bernama
