MIRI: BN-SUPP candidate Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew should be given the support to retain Miri for Barisan Nasional (BN) this May 5 general election.

In giving this view, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Senadin branch publicity officer Achok Nyalu described the political secretary to the minister of energy, green technology and water as a friendly man with a humble attitude and a good understanding of the racial and religious backgrounds of the diverse communities in the constituency.

“We are not wrong in our view that Datuk Sebastian Ting is the right ‘wakil rakyat’ for Miri as he had been working hard going to the ground to meet the people not only lately but all this while in past years, and rendered the necessary services and assistance where possible.

“Ting is the most suitable candidate and deserves the full support from the people,” he said.

Achok also called on voters in Senadin to give Ting a big majority in the coming polls to ensure Miri remain in the forefront of development.

“Let’s vote for BN for more development as only this government can assure us of good infrastructure, amenities and progress,” he urged.

He reminded the people against being gullible and easily influenced by the opposition’s preaching and talks, as they merely wanted to confuse and instigate them to hate the government.

To a question, Achok pledged that he and his branch members would do their utmost to help SUPP in the campaign in the constituency.

Achok and his team were met by The Borneo Post during nomination day at Miri City Fan.

Ting, a new face in the contest, is facing Dr Michael Teo Yu Kheng of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and Chong Kon Fatt of the State Reform Party (STAR) in a three-cornered fight for the Miri parliamentary constituency.
