William had dinner with family members before he disappeared — Witness

PETALING JAYA: The Coroner’s Court here was told yesterday that William Zhau Zhen Zhong had dinner with his family at a restaurant in Puchong to celebrate his older brother’s appointment as a class head before he was reported missing.

Lance Corporal Patrick Dorriuse, 28, said the matter was related to him by the boy’s father, Yau Kok Kang, when they met for the second time at Yau’s workshop at midnight on the day William was reported missing.

Questioned by deputy public prosecutor the reason he went back to the scene, the patrol policeman said he had finished work for the day and stopped at the scene because there were still many policemen there.

He was testifying at an inquest into the death of William, six, who was found dead at the Kampung Sungai Sireh jetty on Jan 24, eight days after he was reported missing in Jalan Putra Mahkota, Putra Heights, Subang Jaya.

Earlier in his testimony, Dorriuse said he received information about the boy missing at 9pm and immediately went to the Onking electrical shop to help in the search.

Meanwhile, Lance Corporal Shahrul Anizan, 31, who is the tenth witness, said the condition of the drain and six holes in the vicinity of the workshop was dry and covered with grille.

It did not rain that night and there was not many traffic using the road at the workshop, he added.

The inquest before coroner Mohd Hezri Shaharil continues on May 9. — Bernama
