ESPRAT achieves 1 million man hours without loss time injury

MIRI: ESPRAT Sdn Bhd (ESPRAT), a Sarawak-based company specialising in Rope Access and Safehouse Habitat services to the oil and gas and petrochemical industries, yesterday achieved an important milestone in safety, of having worked one million man hours without loss time injury or LTI.

According to its operations general manager Bruce Ingram, this has been achieved between Jan 2006 and March 2013, with employees working in the field, both onshore and offshore.

The company currently has approximately 90 employees, with 25 office staff.

At a press conference yesterday, Ingram also revealed that ESPRAT is about to undertake a construction project at its Senadin office where the company plans to build a dedicated training school.

“This training school will cater for the current IRATA Rope Access Training, a new NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) training school in partnership with MINDT (Malaysian Institute of Non-Destructive Testing) and other prudent courses for the oil and gas industry. ESPRAT will be offering beginner through to PCN level 2 NDT courses to anyone, at any level wishing to qualify in this highly sought-after industry skills,” Ingram elaborated.

He added that construction of the school’s current rope access training frame will be enclosed and air-conditioned; with a new cafeteria.

The completion of this training school is expected to be end of 2013, where enrolment will begin in January 2014.

Since the start of 2013, ESPRAT has opened regional offices in Kuala Lumpur and Philippines and operational bases in Kemaman and Labuan.
