SARATOK: Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) recently received another boost for Tan Sri William Mawan’s campaign for the Saratok seat when an old foe indicated a change of heart.

Lawyer and former election candidate John Antau appeared at a BN function here and one of Mawan’s close aides claimed that John, in his personal capacity, would be helping him (Mawan).

Most people claimed that John is PKR Saratok chairman.

The sight of him appearing to be supporting Mawan and BN has already been posted in facebook.

He appeared to pledge his allegiance to BN-SPDP Saratok candidate Mawan when he (Mawan), who is also SPDP president, held his hand in front of BN supporters.

Also seen declaring their suppo o the Minister of Social Development’s candidacy were community leaders including Pemanca Edward Gella Baul.

Prior to the 2011 state election, John’s name was among those bandied about to become PKR Saratok candidate but in the end the opposition party chose Ali Biju.

Ali went all the way to beat the then SPDP deputy president Datuk Peter Nyarok. Ali, the state PKR vice-chairman, will be facing Mawan and also an independent Dato Abang Rosli Abang Paleng in the May 5 polls.
