LABUAN: The Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Labuan parliamentary seat, Rozman Isli, said the people’s mandate would ensure continued development here.

In his election campaign at Kerupang here on Wednesday, he said that the people of Labuan must believe in the BN leadership in enhancing the rapid development process in Labuan.

“We must defend our development agenda here as it will be beneficial to the people as whole.

“Solid steps must be taken and the locals ought to be given priority to enable them to benefit from opportunities created by the BN government.

“In fact, this island is not excluded from the transformation agenda that is happening across the country. Many ‘gifts’ (projects) have been allocated for this island for our benefit,” he said.

However, Rozman wanted the BN leadership here and the people to work as a team to create more opportunities for the locals.

“I cannot do it alone without your help,” he said.

Besides that, the candidate also spoke about the oil and gas industry here.

“There will be more sectors going to be developed into strong pillars on which the economy was built.

“Among them are the halal hub, tourism, education hub and offshore financial centre,” he said, adding that the attendance of the people in his campaign fuelled his spirit to gain victory for BN in Labuan.

Earlier, Rozman attended a programme with the youths from the Kadazandusun Murut (KDM) community at Labuan Golf Club where he recognised the KDM contribution towards the development of the island.

He said the contributions of KDMs in Labuan were indeed significant as most of them came here with their respective expertise which boosted the business activities here.

“I believe that the KDMs here are supporting the BN government. It is because the PBS and Upko leaders here are capable of convincing the KDM that BN is still the right option.

“I hope the cooperation from the KDM community here will ensure the government will continue to lead the country after the election,” he said.
