SIBU: The people have been urged not to ‘kill the goose that lays the golden eggs’ in order for economic prosperity, stability and racial harmony to continue thriving in the country.

Speaking at the leader-meet-the-people session at Kampung Sekaan, Matu near here on Wednesday, Jemoreng assemblyman Abu Seman Jahwie called on the people to give a strong mandate to BN for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to continue leading the country.

“Don’t be influenced by the sweet promises of irresponsible quarters calling for the change of government. Instead, ensure the BN government continues to lead the country by giving solid support, making it stronger by the day.

“We practise the politics of development where politics is used holistically to implement development for the people,” stressed Abu Seman, who is also a political secretary to the Chief Minister.

He added a healthy democracy had enabled the country to prosper.

The government had initiated various initiatives to assist the people such as BR1M, schooling aid and others.

And Matu, he said, it was enjoying a rapid pace of development, which had spurred economic and job opportunities for the people.

People, he added, could expect more vibrant development under BN, adding that this was evidenced from their track record.

“Therefore, come May 5, voters need to use their voting rights wisely and don’t waste their votes. This is because their votes will determine their future and that of the children,” Abu Seman said.

Meanwhile, over 20 community leaders and councillors in Matu District pledged their support for BN.
