KOTA SAMARAHAN: Sarawak Automotive Sport Racing Association (Sarsa) has appealed to the state governement and corporate bodies to assist in turning Sarawak into a top world-class racing destination.

Sarsa secretary Lucas Tan believes that Sarawak has the potential to emerge as a top racing destination especially for motocross and other off-road circuit races.

He said that Sarawak has a suitable geographical terrain and climate for the sport.

“Sarawak as we all know is the biggest state in Malaysia and the state has a lot of space for holding such events,” he added.

He observed that the sport has always been popular among Sarawakians and motocross races usually attracted the most spectators here. Sarsa is aiming to host more yearly racing events and constantly looking out for new talent.

It is partnering the Amateur Automotive Malaysia (AAM), Kota Samarahan District Council and Kota Samarahan Divisional Tourism Task Group to jointly organise the AAM Borneo Motocross Challenge at the Kota Samarahan Motocross Circuit.

The competition enters its final round today. Motocross enthusiasts are invited to come to the race track located next to the Kota Samarahan Fire Station as early as 8am.
