KANOWIT: The Dayaks would lose their native customary rights (NCR) land if they voted out Barisan Nasional (BN) in the 13th general election.

Land Development Minister Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing said this was because there will be no more NCR land if the opposition becomes the new government and implement the ‘Malaysian Malaysia’.

“Under ‘Malaysian Malaysia’, all land in the country belongs to Malaysians, which means whoever has the money can buy any land.

“So where are the Dayaks going to be placed? I hope we will not be a ‘kampar’ (homeless in Iban) in our own land,” he told a gathering at Rumah Sebastian Ko in Nanga Ngungun here yesterday.

Present at the function was Kanowit Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang, his wife Datin Ping Bungan and Ngemah assemblyman Alexander Vincent.

“PKR  said  they  are fighting for NCR. But what is  there to  look   after  when  there is  no more NCR if a ‘Malaysian Malaysia’ is implemented?” Masing posed.

ON THE MOVE: Masing (third right), Aaron (fourth left) and others in the pick-up truck ready to go to their next destination, Nanga Jagau.

He  added the new concept would also deprive the Bumiputera of their allocation for scholarships and jobs in the civil service.

Meanwhile, he advised Iban voters not to forget the good deeds of BN government when casting their vote on polling day.

He said it was always the nature of the Iban not to forget the good things others had done for them.

“We will be ‘tulah’ or ‘busung’ (loosely translated as ‘bad luck’ in Iban) if we failed to reciprocate the good deeds of others.

“In this case, you can return the good deeds of BN with your vote on polling day,” he said.

On Aaron, he said the people in Kanowit should give their support to him because he has Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s support.
