30 footballers shortlisted for selection trial

KUCHING: The final selection for Sarawak Football Development Programme (SFDP) elite squad members will be held at State Stadium, Petra Jaya from May 7 to 20.

SFDP coordinator Lucas Kalang told The Borneo Post yesterday that 30 players from throughout the state are expected to take part in the trial.

“We will only be selecting the top 25 players from the group,” he said on the coming selection to be conducted by SFDP director, Alan Vest and two local coaches.

The local coaches are Khairol Jamel from SFDP elite centre in Kuching and Pengiran Bala from Miri.

The 30 hopefuls were shortlisted by SFDP’s panel of coaches during their recent visits to the programme centres in Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri.

“Once selected into SFDP’s elite squad, they will have the opportunity to represent Sarawak in the coming National Under-19 Youth Football Championship to be held at Kuantan, Pahang on May 25,” Lucas added.

The list of players shortlisted for the final selection are as follows:Mohd Shariee Shukra, Boniface Bangga Majid, Jekin Jotaem, Allester Ali, Nasyirat Mustaqim, Abd. Rizuan Abd Ghani, Benedick Guan,Alex Kamba, Muhammad Asraf Talip, Jubin Baling, Max Fareezan, Willy Jelaing, Azeri Azizan, Valentino Wesley, Ronnie Jampa, Nelson Minila, Jeffery Anyi, Einstein Albert, Maxcliensmand Tuah, Joshua Pahang, Adymond Rejan, Thomas Reman, Mohd Shahruddin Ayub Mohamad, Mohammad Amirul, Sofian Hamzah, Paulus Empulut, Christony Dakun, Timothy Uvang and Edi Yusri Yahya.
