13 cops honoured for role in flushing out militants

SANDAKAN: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman yesterday presented the Pingat Kedaulatan Negara (National Sovereignty Medal) to 13 police officers for their services during the recent 0ps Daulat to flush out Sulu militants.

The recipients were Sabah Police Air Wing chief Superintendent Shahruddin bin Haji Taib, Superintendent Suhaimi bin Haji Wiro of Criminal Investigation Department IPK Sabah officer, DSP Rozita binti Md Don (Logistics Department IPK Sabah), ASP Jefri bin Othman (IPD Tawau), ASP Mohd Aris bin Jambul (Sabah Regional 4 Marine Police), Inspector Yaem Duam (Persenjataan IPK Sabah), Inspector Mohamad Solehuddin (Liaison officer of Sabah Police Commissioner), SM/D Lee Kean Min (CID IPK Sabah), Sjn/D Waris Abd Rahman (CID IPK Semporna), Kpl/D Jerry Jenedi Tinggi (IPD Semporna), Corporal Amrishal Bin Amat (Battalion 16 GOF Kota Kinabalu), Corporal Abg. Khamka bin Abg. Saadili (Battalion 14 GOF Tawau) and Corporal Mohd Sharul Adam bin Abdullah (Battalion 14 GOF Tawau).

Speaking at the award presentation ceremony in Sri Libaran hall, Musa expressed his gratitude towards all security forces for their contribution at the frontline during Ops Daulat.

He said the state government is always confident with the professionalism and dedication shown by the security forces.

Therefore he urged the people in this state to strengthen unity and give their support and cooperation to the security forces.

Musa said he is also proud of the community’s awareness especially in giving assistance and support during Ops Daulat until the establishment of the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCOM) and Eastern Sabah Safety Zone (ESSZone).

The incident in Lahad Datu recently had affected the lives of our local people, thus giving us the message on the importance to preserve the peace, security and harmony that we enjoy as an independent and sovereign country, he added.

Meanwhile, when commenting on the use of a political party’s name to collect contributions for the Lahad Datu Warriors’ Fund, Musa said that it should not be abused and politicised by the party.

“If we want to collect donation, we have to be honest and sincere, the use of a political party name to collect donations is definitely dishonest action,” he said.

Also present at the ceremony were Sabah Commissioner of Police, Dato’ Pahlawan Hamza Taib, and Deputy Secretary-General (Security), Ministry of Home Affairs of Malaysia, Dato Alwi Haji Ibrahim.
