KOTA KINABALU: Electricity supplyis reduced by 95MW (megawatts) in Sabah and Labuan from last evening after one of the power generators of an independent power producer broke down.

Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) yesterday said the police had found abnormal vibrations in the generator and ordered its closure last evening to identify the cause and fix it.

Senior General Manager (Asset Management) of SESB, Ir Ahmad Fuad Md Kasim, said the generator could produce 95MW and this loss would undoubtedly have an impact on the electricity supply.

He said the problem is expected to be resolved by tonight and SESB would continue to monitor and take proactive measures to ensure the stability of electricity supply.

As today is a public holiday, the demand for electricity is expected to be lower than on working days.
