MIRI: The public as well as corporate bodies and government agencies here are urged to support the 10th edition of the International Dance for Humanity to be held on June 23 at the Miri Indoor Stadium.

The event needs more support to achieve its target of entering the Malaysia Book of Records, organising committee chairperson Datin Judy Wan Morshidi said.

“The response so far had been quite good with several new entries confirmed taking part including from Maksak Miri and also from Tenby International School and Fajar International College.

The dance troupe from Fajar had not only started their dance practices but are also preparing for next year’s event while Tenby is also assisting in printing the brochure,” Judy said yesterday after leading her committee members in paying a courtesy call on Miri Resident Antonio Kathi Galis.

The courtesy call was to invite the Resident to the function and to get him to encourage their recreation club members (Maksak) to participate and raise funds for the event.

Malaysian Red Crescent Miri Chapter is the organiser of the event and the event is held in line with the society’s 60th anniversary.

The committee targets to get 100 dance items to be presented.

The dance event aims to raise funds for the society to run its services and activities and to promote international friendship and understanding through the participation of national Red Crescent societies to amplify the principle of universality.

At the same time, it also aims to enhance racial and cultural harmony and unity as well as to inculcate a spirit of caring through harnessing support from locals and the private sector.

Donation cards have been distributed to members, organisations and agencies.

A donation of RM5 and above will entitle the donor to a lucky draw coupon where attractive prizes await winners.
