KENINGAU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) president Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan has appealed to the people to think wisely in this 13th General Election by voting for the Barisan Nasional candidates contesting in Keningau and the state seats of Tambunan and Bingkor.

He said it was important for the people to continue supporting BN to remain in power to enable it to continue with its transformation programmes for the benefit of the people of Sabah.

“BN should be given the needed support to continue the transformation agenda through BN Aku Janji that promises a brighter future for the people of Sabah, particularly in the Interior,” he said when speaking at Keningau RELA Touch Point Program for five villages held at Kampung Tuntumulod Bingkor here yesterday.

Pairin, who is the BN candidate for Tambunan and Keningau, said the BN under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak had shown great concerns for the development and welfare of the people in the country.

He said Najib had a comprehensive and systematic approach to develop the state and country.

“He (Najib) is always going to the ground to meet and listen to problems faced by the people, and he listens to the voice of the leaders in the state,” he added.

Pairin said people were selected as candidates on the basis of discussions among BN components and resulted in more effective collaboration to ensure victory for BN candidates.

He praised RELA members for their role to complement the security forces in defending state and the country.

Pairin also urged the voters in Bingkor to give the BN candidate, John Kennedy Jie, a chance to serve them.

“I am confident Kennedy, who is young and energetic person, certainly knows what to do to serve his people to the best of his ability.

“I ask the people of Keningau, Tambunan, Bingkor and Liawan to come to cast their votes early on May 5 and ensure that they vote for BN candidates,” he said.

Also present at the event were Kennedy, Senator Dr Lucas Umbol, District Officer Amat Mohd Yusof, District RELA Officer Lt Colonel Venetius Masingga, Bingkor PBS chief Peter Jino Allion, Keningau Umno division committee member Annuar Datuk Ayub, Keningau MCA chief Kapitan Jack Chin, Keningau Gerakan chief Clarence Lee, RELA members and community leaders.

Pairin also campaigned for Liawan BN candidate Datuk Haji Sairin Karno at Kampung Keningau and Kampung Tanah Merah.
