KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians should be grateful for being the citizens of a progressive, peaceful and harmonious country which is well administered by the Barisan Nasional (BN) government, said Indonesia-Malaysia bilateral relations analyst Noor Shamsuddin Haesy.

He felt that it was totally unnecessary for the estimated 13 million voters to change the government on May 5 as Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak was viewed in the region and globally as a proactive and caring leader who had his feet firmly on the ground and capable of propelling Malaysia towards Vision 2020.

“Malaysians don’t need to change the government in this general election. In my observation of the region BN is a political party which is capable of fulfilling the people’s aspirations in a careful and efficient way benefiting everyone,” he said in an exclusive interview with Bernama here recently.

Shamsuddin said he has been closely observing Malaysia’s political developments for the past two decades and noted that all its prime ministers have been blessed with a clear vision to develop the country in the right direction.

“Malaysia has pragmatic policies which prioritises its people and Najib has achieved a great deal to transform it from the socio-economic, cultural, political, defence and religious aspects,” he said.

According to Noor Shamsuddin changing a good government, which was also the best one right now, would be akin to walking from the light into darkness because Vision 2020 and 1Malaysia Transformation were the brightest path for the people now. — Bernama
