PUTRAJAYA: Pakatan Rakyat is resorting to offering cash to fish for votes in the Putrajaya parliamentary seat, Barisan Nasional (BN) secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor claimed yesterday.
“A resident reported to me that some people were even offered RM500 for their votes. I’ve told them to lodge a police report on the matter. This is a dirty tactic,” said Tengku Adnan, who is defending the seat in a
straight fight with PAS vice-president Datuk Husam Musa in the general election this Sunday.
He further claimed that there have also been complaints of unidentified individuals purportedly wanting to mark the residents’ fingers with ink.
“I just received a report that eight people had gone door-to-door at the flats here around 9 or 10 pm on Monday night claiming they were conducting a survey.
“One of the residents who had allowed them in said they had wanted to mark her finger with ink, saying it was to make it easier on polling day,” he said after a meet-the-people session with Indian voters here Tuesday night.
Tengku Adnan, who has held the seat for two terms in a row, defeated Mohamad Noor Mohamad of PAS by a majority of 2,734 votes in the 2008 general election.
Commenting on a proposed debate between the two candidates, Tengku Adnan stressed that he was not interested in it as his opponent was not well versed about the constituency or its administration as he was new to the area.
“What would we debate about? I don’t get it. There are no problems in Putrajaya. We resolve
