‘Recycled leaders’ gave away land – Musa

KOTA MARUDU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman reminded the voters here to make the right decision and not fall for the opposition’s promises when casting their votes this Sunday.

He said they should not be easily swayed by the opposition’s promises as they were known for their tendency to twist facts in their desperate effort to discredit the government and describe themselves as the heroes championing the people.

“This is all lies, deception. They are promising the moon and the sun but the people must not be fooled by these “recycled leaders” of the opposition,” he said.

“They were in the government before, holding important positions but they did not do anything but now they are not in position to do anything they are promising so many things.

“Their leader, Anwar, was the Deputy Prime Minister but what had he done for the people of Sabah that now he is promising to give native customary rights land. These “recycled leaders” were the ones who gave away the people’s land to private companies. So why are they promising to give people land now,” he said.

Musa stressed that only Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders could deliver development and solve the problems faced by the people.

He said all the State BN leaders are cooperating with each other and listening closely to their constituents to identify what development programmes that best suit the needs of the people.

Contrary to the opposition’s claims, he said BN leaders have been work to identify the needs and aspirations of the people, adding that Sabah, as a BN strong hold, was lucky to have a Prime Minister who was concerned and sensitive to every request from its leaders.

“The Prime Minister understands that Sabah is huge and because of that it needs a lot of allocations to implement so many projects and programmes needed by its people.

“He is sensitive and he listens to the request from Sabah. Whatever we ask from the federal government, most of them will be given.

‘Our leaders, like (Kudat member of parliament) Dr Maximus holds important position as a federal minister. They can see the prime minister any time they want to convey the voices of the people from Sabah,” he said.

“The opposition on the other hand have nothing and can only bite their fingers. They can promise this and that but they are not in position to deliver anything,” Musa asserted.

He said BN had a proven track record, unlike the opposition who had failed in the states under their care in Peninsular Malaysia.

Selangor was a developed and one of the most progressive states in Malaysia but was now crippled by so many problems due to the Pakatan Rakyat’s incompetent and ineffectiveness as the government, he claimed.

Musa said the same thing is also happening in areas under the opposition in Sabah, where opposition leaders had failed to bring any progress or resolve issues faced by their voters after winning the election.

“I visited Sri Tanjong recently and the people there said (incumbent assemblyman) Jimmy Wong has run away to contest in Kota Kinabalu because he is afraid to defend the seat.

“I asked why and they told me Jimmy Wong knew he had done nothing for the constituency since he was elected five years ago. How could he? He has no allocation. He can only talk and make promises but could not follow up,” said Musa.

“BN on the other hand, has a good leader. We could ask for additional allocation from the federal and the prime minister usually approves our request. That is why we have billions of tinggit coming in from the federal,” he said.

The Sabah BN chief also expressed confidence the people in Kota Marudu will choose wisely when they cast their votes this Sunday and retain BN as their government.

Dr Maximus Ongkili in his welcoming remarks expressed the same confidence, saying the people appreciated the various development programmes and schemes implemented by BN in the district.

He said the voters, who had benefited a lot from the progress brought about by BN, wanted to see a continuation of these programmes and schemes.

The BN government, he added, was also seen as committed and capable of addressing the issues faced by the people, including land-related problems.

“I am confident that we in Kota Marudu will deliver the parliamentary seat to help the Prime Minister maintain power at the federal level. Similarly we are confident of delivering the state seats to help BN retain power at the state level,” he said. #myvote13 #ge13
