DAP national political education chief forecasts Pakatan Rakyat winning big

SIBU: DAP national political education director Liew Chin Tong said the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) coalition is in a strong position to win the 13th General Election on May 5.

He said the latest political forecast in Peninsular Malaysia was 53 per cent in favour of PR and 47 per cent for the BN.

“In the last general election, the forecast was 51 per cent in favour of PR and 49 per cent in favour of BN. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the PR should be able to win come May 5,” he told a press conference yesterday.

With him were State DAP chairman Richard Wong Ho Leng and DAP candidates for Lanang and Sibu, Alice Lau and Oscar Ling respectively.

Liew predicted that PKR should be able to get 45 out of the 88 seats it contested while DAP would win 40 out of the 50 seats it contested.

For PAS, his prediction is 40 out of the 73 seats contested.

“Based on that figure, we should be able to get 125 seats,” he said.

Even then, Liew said he did not take the results of Sabah and Sarawak into account, though he admitted that it was hard to predict the election results here.

“Nevertheless, we are expected to get at least seven seats in Sarawak, though winning 12 seats is not a dream,” he said.

Liew said anything could still happen in the push towards the election on the final two days.

“We just hope the election campaign will go on peacefully and nobody will come up with any dirty ploy to disrupt the election.”

Liew said the people were eager for change as indicated by huge turn outs in the various ‘ceramah’ in Penang, Johor, Sarawak and elsewhere.

Liew said they were aiming to get at least 12 seats out of the 26 parliamentary seats contested in Johor, a BN stronghold.

He said the entire DAP machinery was concentrated in Johor, as they hoped to capture Johor from the BN government.

“Every single seat is important to us and we cannot afford to drop one seat. Sibu, Lanang and Sarikei, the three seats in the central region, are equally important to us to ensure that we can form the government after May 5.”

Meanwhile, Liew called on the voters to turn up in full force to vote on polling day on May 5. He called on the people to vote for PR to ensure there would be a change of government.

“A vote for DAP is a vote for PKR and a vote for PKR is a vote for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to be the prime minister.” #myvote13 #ge13
