Deejay charged with raping teenage girl

KOTA KINABALU: A local deejay claimed trial at the Sessions Court here yesterday to a charge of raping a teenage girl.

Dick Deyron Dualis, 23, who appeared before judge Ummu Kalthom Abdul Samad, was charged under Section 376 (1) of the Penal Code, which provides for a maximum jail term of 20 years and whipping upon conviction.

The unrepresented accused allegedly raped the 15-year-old girl in a rented room in Penampang Baru at 8.30 pm on April 20.

The court set May 13 this year for case management and released the accused on a bail of RM10,000 with two local sureties.

Meanwhile, at another Sessions Court here, an arrest warrant against a local man charged with armed robbery was extended for the sixth time.

Judge Duncan Sikodol extended the arrest order after Mohd Norazreen Sulaiman, 32, again failed to turn up in court yesterday when the case came up for review.

The man allegedly robbed a woman, 38, of two cellphones, a MyKad, bank cards and RM1,000 in cash at a premises in Putatan at 2 am on June 28, 2012.

The accused, with two friends who are still at large, were armed with a machete when committing the alleged robbery.

They were charged under Section 395 of the Penal Code, which provides for a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping upon conviction.

The court fixed June 5 this year to further review his warrant of arrest.

Deputy public prosecutor, Luke Ressa Balang, prosecuted in both the cases.

In the Magistrate’s Court here, local Saizull Abdul Rahman, 29, received 12 months’ jail for possession of stolen items. He was caught committing the offence in Petagas area on April 27.

He admitted to the charge framed under Section 411 of the Penal Code which is punishable by a jail term of up to five years and a fine, upon conviction.

Prosecuting officer Inspector Syahrin Ali appeared for the prosecution.
