Defeated PKR candidate to continue struggle in Labuan

LABUAN: Defeated PKR candidate for Labuan parliamentary seat, Tan Sri Ibrahim Menudin, yesterday he would continue the opposition struggle here.

He lost to Barisan Nasional candidate, Rozman Datuk Isli, who garnered 12,694 votes, securing 6,625-vote majority.

Ibrahim obtained 6,069 votes. PAS candidate Hadnan Haji Mohamad, who withdrew from the contest before the May 5 polling, received 386 votes.

Ibrahim said those involved in his election machinery were still young and they could still pursue the next possibility of winning in the next general election here.

“A struggle like this is never easy and you need to have a lot of commitment and stamina.

“By the way, I am not ignoring my supporters who had supported and voted for me,” he said, adding that he congratulated Rozman on his victory.

Ibrahim, who also contested in the Bongawan state seat, lost to BN candidate Mohamad Alamin, who polled 7,443 votes.

Ibrahim obtained 4,051 votes. Other candidates from SAPP obtained 335 votes, STAR (321) and independent (455).
