Dayaks deserve more ministers in federal cabinet — Masir

SRI AMAN: The federal cabinet may have to increase its quota of ministers and deputy ministers from the Dayak community for their almost solid support.

The newly-minted Sri Aman MP Masir Kujat said that the Dayak voters in Sarawak were still firmly behind the Barisan National (BN) judging from the results of the just concluded election.

He said that his party (PRS), for example, had won all its six (rural) seats of Lubok Antu, Julau, Selangau, Kanowit, Sri Aman and Hulu Rejang.

Masir added that he was in full support of his president Tan Sri Dr James Masing in asking for more MPs from the Dayak community to be made ministers and deputy ministers in the federal cabinet.

“This will further increase the confidence of the community in the BN and its leadership.”

Masir won the Sri Aman seat after garnering 12,168 votes, beating PKR’s Nicholas Mujah who only managed 5,618 votes, independent Donald Lawan (3,867) and SWP’s Wilfred Landong (476) in the Sunday election.
