TUARAN: The newly elected assemblyman for Kiulu, Datuk Joniston Bangkuai has called on the people of Kiulu, including supporters of opposition parties in the just-concluded general election, to close ranks and forge a strategic partnership to tackle the many challenges or problems faced by the people in the area.

In making the call, Joniston, who is also Sabah Journalists Association president, said although development plans for Kiulu were already in place, he was always open to suggestions for the betterment of Kiulu.

“The slim majority (for the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate in Kiulu) is not a reason for not working hard, instead it will spur us to double up our efforts to develop Kiulu,” he told Bernama yesterday.

In this respect, Joniston urged the people in Kiulu to work with him to bring Kiulu to greater heights.

“Thank you, especially BN supporters and campaigners, who steadfastly supported and voted for BN despite the onslaught by the opposition …we will continue to work hard to serve the people,” he said.

In Sunday’s general election, Bangkuai won the Kiulu state seat with a majority of 44 votes. — Bernama
