Hasan Ali: Selangor pas should name its candidate for MB post

MELAKA: Jalur Tiga (Jati) president Datuk Dr Hasan Ali yesterday said that Selangor PAS should submit the name of its candidate to fill the post of Selangor Menteri Besar (MB) because the opportunity did not come easily.

He said this was because PAS had numerous professional candidates who were qualified to administer and to bring the state to greater heights.

“The people of Selangor, where the Malays are the dominant race, want a leader who is capable of developing the state in an Islamic way, just like in Kelantan and Kedah,” he told reporters after attending Yasin recital programme at Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Idris Haron’s Office in Seri Negeri here.

Hasan, who is also former Selangor PAS Commissioner, said this in response to the controversy among PAS, PKR and DAP in deciding who should become the next Selangor MB.

On Thursday, PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang was reported as saying that Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim of PKR should be reappointed as Selangor MB although PKR only won 14 state seats in the 13th general election, as compared to 15 seats won each by PAS and DAP.

In Shah Alam, Selangor PAS Youth deputy chief Mohd Sany Hamzan said there was no agreement whatsoever that said the MB post must be given to PKR should the opposition pact manage to retain power in Selangor.

“We viewed the statements made by PKR leaders, including Azmin Ali, Zuraida Kamaruddin and Shuhaimi Shafiei, that the MB post belongs to PKR as statements made by greedy persons who need a reality check.

“They must still be dreaming as if they won more state seats than PAS and DAP in the May 5 polls,” he said in a statement.

He also advised the PKR leaders to get a grip on the real situation before making any statements on the issue. — Bernama
