Firehorse Basketball Academy start training camps

KUCHING: Firehorse Basketball Club are organising training camps in schools in Miri to unearth new talents.

Malaysian National Basketball League (MBBL) team Firehorse players Ma Chee Kheun and Lau Bik Ing are conducting the camps.

Firehorse Basketball Club treasurer Mary Ho Suk Hui said the recently registered Firehorse Basketball Academy, which is under the club’s management, are conducting the first season of the training camp from May 4 to June 30.

Ho said the training camp was part of the club’s efforts to complement the search and grooming of basketball talents in schools in Miri.

She explained that the academy was specially set up for this purpose.

“We have rented a privately owned indoor basketball court to train the players and we will also select potential players to join our club,” she added.

Training sessions for primary school students are from 8am to 9:30am or 11am to 12:30pm every Sunday while sessions for secondary school students are from 9:30am to 11am or 6pm to 7:30pm every Saturday.
