KOTA KINABALU: Puteri Umno head Datuk Rosnah Shirlin has described her appointment as Deputy Works Minister as an honor for Puteri and Sabah.

Speaking to the Borneo Post yesterday, Rosnah, who was previously the Deputy Health Minister, said that her appointment by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak showed the leadership’s recognition of both Puteri and Sabah.

“I humbly vow that I to work hard and carry out the duty as amanah (trust) from the leadership as well as the people who have put their trust in Barisan Nasional (BN),” she said.

Rosnah was elected as a parliamentarian in 2004 and became the head of Umno Puteri in 2009.

Two other women leaders in Sabah were also included in Najib’s new cabinet yesterday. They are former State Community Development and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun and Tawau member of parliament Mary Yap.

Azizah was appointed as Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister while Yap was appointed as Deputy Education Minister.
