SMYSHHB conducts ‘charity cross-country

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: A total of 268 secondary students from Year 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Secondary School (SMYSHHB) yesterday participated in a sponsored Charity Cross-Country event organised by the school, Borneo Bulletin reported.

Also participating were the 35 teachers and 10 administrative members of the schpol. The event amongst all served to raise funds for the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Orphans Fund (DANA).

The sports event, held for the first time, also aimed to raise funds for the school and in support of the health promotion to ensure that the students are not just active academically but also physically.

On hand to officially flag off the participants in the 5.5km (male) and 4km (female) run was the guest of honour, Pg Hj Anuar Pg Seri Indera Pg Hj Ismail, the Chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association.

The event began with a brief remark by the principal and chairperson of the organising committee, Madam Keasberry who amongst all extended her apprecaition to the participants and parents involved in the event.

This was followed by a warm-up session, which was also participated by the .guest of honour along with officers and staff of the SMYSHHB as well as parents registered with the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of SMYSHHB.
