KUCHING: Isuzu Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Isuzu Malaysia) has launched the second generation Isuzu D-Max which comes with a fresh-new design boasting superior comfort, safety and refinement without sacrificing the brand’s hallmark durability, reliability and fuel efficiency.

Speaking at the media launch at KTS Garden here yesterday, chief operating officer Daisuke Ishida said that the all-new Isuzu D-Max came with enhancements in all aspects of its design and build.

These improvements, in line with Isuzu’s three core design values, allow the second-generation Isuzu D-Max to ‘Elevate your journey’ – the promotional slogan for the new vehicle.

“What the original Isuzu D-Max has done was to set exceedingly high standards in durability, reliability and fuel efficiency.

“We believe that the all-new Isuzu D-Max now allows motorists to enjoy an enhancement of these Isuzu hallmarks with the added benefit of supreme comfort, safety and performance in a fresh and highly attractive package,” Ishida said.

The all-new Isuzu D-Max sports a larger body and bed with a longer wheelbase and wider thread, allowing the cabin and cargo area to be significantly more spacious with noticeably more comfortable rear seats.

The sleek new wedge-shaped body profile that was created with the use of wind-tunnel testing in the Japan Railway Technical Research Institute’s facilities has resulted in the lowest coefficient of drag in its class, making it quieter and more efficient on the road.

Powered by a new 2.5-litre Super Commonrail engine featuring a computer-controlled Variable Geometry System (VGS) turbo system, the new powerhouse provides improved throttle response and better high-end performance.

In addition, Isuzu engineers have managed to balance it with reduced exhaust emissions and lower fuel consumption with a 10 per cent improvement from the previous engine.

The vehicle designed from the ground up “eclipses the current model in virtually all dynamic aspects of its performance, ranging from acceleration to over-taking which should help the new model handle all terrain conditions in Sabah and Sarawak with ease,” a press statement said.

The all-new Isuzu D-Max now comes with a choice of five-speed manual or five-speed automatic gearboxes, the latter with sequential shifting mode for more driver control.

The five variants, priced from RM71,353.40 to RM101,980.40 (on the road with insurance) are currently available at all Isuzu authorised dealers nationwide. For more information, log on to www.isuzu.net.my or call 1-300881133.
