Miri Beach Festival May 26

MIRI: Members of the public here are invited to the Miri Beach Festival at Luak Esplanade on May 26.

The event is jointly organised by CGE Global Sdn Bhd, Trust Management & Exhibition, Skim Trooper 2 and Syarikat Sinar Borneo Enterprise, and the sponsors are Digi, F&N, Skim Shack, Miri City Council, and Madli Satay.

Spokesperson Corriena Sharkawi told a press conference yesterday that this inaugural event was to commemorate Miri City Day.

“There will be various fun games and activities as well booths offering tattoo services face painting.

“Also worth looking out for are demonstrations on paragliding, BMX and others exciting beach activities,” she said.

To make the festival more interesting, the public are also welcomed to participate in five competitions, namely skimboarding flatland, beach soccer, beach volleyball, sandcastle building, and tug-of-war.

“The participation fee for skimboarding is RM30 per person; beach soccer, RM50 per team; beach volleyball, RM30 per team; sandcastle, RM30 per team; and tug-of-war, RM50 per team,” Corriena told reporters.

Those who wish to take part in any of the competitions can obtain the participation forms that will be published in The Borneo Post, Utusan Borneo and See Hua Group.

Apart from the beach activities, there will also be performances by local bands.

Bands interested to be part of the gig can contact Allantry Charles at 016-8705346 or Terrence Lim at 013-5557711. The participation fee is RM70 per band and is limited to 20 bands on a first-come, first-served basis.

Those patronising the festival will also be entertained by specially invited deejays – CBell J and Ian Sua from Bintulu as well as Kyan C, Jason Chong and Bezhang from Miri.

At the end of the festival, a clean-up of the beach will be carried out by the organisers and interested members of the public.
