Price cap for festive season items in Sabah and Sarawak

KUALA LUMPUR: Thirteen items have been placed under the Price Control Scheme for the Kaamatan (harvest) Festival in 24 districts in Sabah and Labuan.

Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Hasan Malek said the price control would be enforced from May 25 to 31 under the Price Control Act and the Anti-Profiteering Act 2011.

The items are live chicken, standard chicken, super chicken, chicken wings, chicken eggs (grade A, B, C), local beef (cattle), local beef (buffalo), Indian beef, live pig (at farm level), pork belly, and pork and lard, he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, 11 items have been placed under the Price Control Scheme for the Gawai (harvest) Festival in 32 districts in Sarawak from May 27 to June 2.

They are live chicken, standard chicken, super chicken, old live chicken, chicken eggs (grade A, B, C), imported beef, live pig (at farm level), pork belly, and pork and lard. Hasan said the ministry would monitor the prices at public, morning and farmers’ markets with the help of consumers squads, village headmen, community leaders and non-governmental organisations.
