First meeting of first session of 13th Parliament begins June 24

KUALA LUMPUR: The first meeting of the first session of the 13th Parliament is scheduled for 16 days from June 24, according to a statement from the office of the Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat.

It said the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, would officially open the meeting at 10 am on June 25 at Parliament House.

The office received from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak the proclamation summoning parliament to meet signed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, said the statement which was signed by Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia.

The statement also said that the Dewan Negara would meet for nine days from June 25.

The main business of the Dewan Rakyat would be the election of the speaker and his or her swearing-in following which the MPs would take their oath of office and the deputy speakers would be elected, the statement said. — Bernama
