LABUAN: MASwings has rescheduled its morning flights to 8.20 am from Labuan to Kota Kinabalu after earlier scheduling it at 9 am as the earliest flight departure from this island to the state capital.

The earlier departure schedule had caused some inconvenience to the business community here travelling to Kota Kinabalu for their business trips.

Earlier, president of the Labuan Chinese Chamber of Commerce (LCCC), Datuk Wong Kii Yii, had contacted the management of MASwings at Kota Kinabalu to request for the former departure time of 8 am to be reinstated.

A spokesperson for the chamber yesterday informed that they have received a letter from MASwings confirming that its management would reinstate the morning flights from Kota Kinabalu to Labuan to 8.20 am.

The flight is now scheduled to arrive Labuan at 8 am and then depart for Kota Kinabalu at 8.20 am and the reinstated schedule would be effective from May 25.

“LCCC have received many complaints from its members and the people of Labuan regarding the flight timing,” the spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, MASwings management has expressed their regret that the former flight schedule had caused inconvenience, especially among the business community, here on this island.

The spokesperson for MASwings said, the recent flight disruptions in Labuan were due to technical problems.

“Despite best efforts rendered by the crew, ground staff and other MASwings staff, there will always be unavoidable delays and cancellation. However, since passengers’ safety is the utmost priority for MASwings, the flights affected are either delayed or cancelled,” said the MASwings’ spokesperson.
