PUTRAJAYA: Cempaka Schools Malaysia (CSM), who came out as the overall champions for the fifth consecutive year in the World Education Games, received their World Cup trophy from Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, here yesterday.

Muhyiddin, who is also Education Minister I, in his speech at the presentation at his office here yesterday, commended CSM for the feat and added that the repeated success by CSM demonstrated that Malaysian students could become world champions.

“Winning nine world trophies within the span of five years, Cempaka has thus established a strong academic reputation, benchmarked internationally.

“It is a school of international class, beating competitors of 5.1 million children from 30,000 schools, from over 226 countries across the world,” he added.

He hoped that the success of CSM would inspire other schools nationwide.

Muhyiddin also presented the school with two other trophies – the World Literacy and World Science. All the three trophies were received by the CSM founder Datuk Freida Mohd Pilus.

Also present were the Deputy Education ministers, Datuk Mary Yap Kain Ching and P Kamalanathan, as well as the 3P Learning Australia’s Regional Manager, Paul Mc Mahon, the organiser of the competition. — Bernama
